Boysun. Masterpieces of Central Asia
KURGANCHA, DEHIBOLO P.21)
Kurgancha, Dehibolo, Yakkatol, Duoba, Alachapan and Gumatak, the farthermost mountain kishlaks of Boysun, have retained examples of original mountain architecture. Houses of stone and clay are located on the terraces so that the roof of one house often serves as the courtyard for another. Until the mid-twenty century, a wooden idol sat in a rocky niche high up. The old-timers say that the idol sat with crossed legs and hands in front. When a local mullah ordered, to be hacked to pieces, more than forty donkeys were needed to transport the wood. The legends say that Prophet Suleiman once lived in a cave near a spring where peri used to bathe. The unique staircase of Bibishoi is in Dehibolo at a height of 2400 meters above sea level. It is 500 meters high, and – 850 meters long. The staircase was constructed on the cliff at the end of the 19th century. Usto Alim headed the construction. It made the road to Dehibolo shorter by many hours. In some places its width does not exceed one meter; a wrong step and you can fall into the abyss. The staircase was reconstructed and faced with stones in 1975, by the master mason Usto Tosh.
